Work in the Community
Playing an active role in the local community is hugely important to us. Brachers’ roots run deep in Kent, having been established here for more than a century, and Brachers is proud to recognise the importance of giving something back to the local community.
We consider ourselves to be a valued member of communities and are committed to making a positive impact.
We support local charities with donations of both time and money and undertake pro bono work. Brachers staff have raised over £40,000 for Kent charities over the last four years, including Macmillan Kent, Heart of Kent Hospice, Headway West Kent, Blackthorn Trust and Demelza House. We have also supported charity fun runs by providing refreshments, attended local schools and career events supporting students and donated gifts to disadvantaged children in care in the local area. Our partners also contribute to Brachers Charitable Trust which has contributed to over 100 charities since 1990.
Playing an active role in the local business community is essential to us and we recognise our role to support economic growth in our region. We consider ourselves to be a valued member of business community groups, committed to making a positive impact to business growth. These include:
- Founding Corporate Partner for Visit Kent since October 2016
- Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce Patronage since February in 2017
- Member of East Kent Economic Development Group since it was established in 2015
- Sponsor of Kent Excellence in Business Awards since January 2013
- Sponsor of the Wellbeing Symposium 2017
- A member of One Maidstone since January 2017
We also provide training and support to local businesses as well as in-house training to local charities, local NHS clients and care homes in order to improve their delivery of service. Many staff are also school governors, dedicated in providing expertise in improvements in the delivery of education. Community contribution and profile is an important consideration in our recruitment process.
Brachers has designated teams specifically to support building relationships in the region. The volunteers also sit on regional development forums to support local cultural and regional plans across Kent. We are also members of the Sevenoaks Chamber of Commerce which helps develop business in the area.
