Charities

The end of 2006 saw the passing of the Charities Act 2006, bringing new opportunities to improve and streamline the operation of new and existing charities.

With increasing accountability on the part of trustees and the need for them to be properly advised and trained there are considerable opportunities for specialist lawyers and we are finding our services increasingly required.

The discipline shares much with mainstream trust law as well as the need for advice on corporate governance and structures. Quite often we are involved in reviewing existing constitutions and advising and implementing changes. We work closely across the firm with our Trusts, Corporate Finance, Employment and Property teams to provide innovative advice and solutions for our clients.

“Brachers has a “solid team” and advises farmers, families, entrepreneurs and charities on all aspects of capital tax planning through trusts.”

Chambers UK 2007. A Client’s Guide to the Legal Profession.
