Philip CunninghamPartner & Head of Corporate & Commercial Services
Philip trained and worked in the City for several years before moving to Switzerland and becoming vice-president of Swisscom AG with responsibility for international investments in telecoms businesses in Europe, India and the Far East. He has served on the boards of several companies worldwide most notably in Delhi and in Kuala Lumpur (for a listed telecoms company). Recently he has been engaged in projects in the US and Latin America acquiring knowledge and expertise of the biofuels industry. He has wide experience of joint ventures, acquisitions, disposals, equity and debt offerings and general corporate and commercial work.

Brendan RoodtAssociate
Brendan has over 13 years experience in corporate and commercial law both in the UK and South Africa, acting as a transactional lawyer and as an advisor to corporate decision makers and business owners. He advises business owners and decision makers on corporate and commercial law matters, share transactions, joint ventures and distressed transactions.
Brendan studied in South Africa, and then worked for a major South African law firm before joining a smaller boutique firm as the corporate and commercial law partner. Brendan joined Brachers in March 2010.

Michael OathamPartner Commercial
Focuses on representing key clients such as Rail Europe and Fuji Seal Europe in heavyweight commercial and construction-related disputes.
Chambers UK 2008
Michael specialises in larger commercial disputes focusing on complex, high value matters and handles a breadth of work ranging from general contract cases to construction and engineering, disputes, intellectual property and defamation. His clients are diverse, encompassing the insurance sector, local government, international businesses, regional NHS trusts and smaller enterprises.

Paul DungatePartner
Paul qualified in 1984 and reached partner status before moving to in-house company work. He has worked as a solicitor for ICI and Octel and was the senior lawyer at Hays plc, dealing with a broad range of corporate, M&A, company and commercial work.

Sean GormanAssociate
Sean trained with Brachers and qualified in 2006. He has experience of advising a variety of regional, national and international clients in relation to buying and selling businesses and companies in addition to a wide range of other corporate and commercial matters. Sean also has experience of the recruitment industry, having spent time with a leading international legal recruitment consultancy.

Julie AlchinSolicitor
Julie qualified in 2001 and joined Brachers in August 2008. She has worked for a diverse client base and has experience in a broad range of both commercial and corporate work advising clients on all aspects of their business. She has a particular interest in intellectual property matters.

Neil McCarrollSolicitor
Neil trained with Brachers and qualified in 2008. Before joining the firm, he gained a joint honours degree in Law and Politics from the University of Nottingham and completed his legal studies at the Nottingham Law School. Neil previously qualified as a counter fraud specialist before returning to the law when he joined Brachers in 2006. He has experience of a range of corporate transactions, including share acquisitions and disposals, group restructures and MBO's, and has assisted both regional and international clients. Neil is also developing his practice in general company law and corporate governance.

Matthew SimmondsSolicitor
Matt read Law at University College London and continued his studies to postgraduate level gaining a Masters degree in Commercial & Corporate Law. Matt completed the academic stage of his training at the College of Law in London and joined Brachers in 2006 as a trainee. Matt qualified as a Solicitor in October 2008 and is developing his expertise in all areas of corporate work including acquisitions & disposals, debt-equity swaps, group restructurings and limited liability partnerships.
