John has over 30 years of experience in litigation and heads the firm’s dispute resolution team. He has wide experience of general litigation and specialises in advising NHS Health Authorities and Trusts. He represents Trusts and individual practitioners at Inquests and professional disciplinary hearings. He defends Trusts and individual managers in relation to health and safety matters. John has been nominated in Chambers Directories for the last 10 years as a leading individual in the field of health care in the South East. He is a member of the Health and Safety Lawyers Association. In 2008 he successfully completed an MBA in legal practice with distinction at Nottingham Trent University. John is an accredited Mediator for clinical disputes with the ADR Group and acts as legal chair for Kent Primary Care Performance and Decision Making Groups for doctors, dentists, ophthalmologists and pharmacists.

Scott AlexanderPartner Medical and Personal Injury
Scott has specialised in clinical negligence since 1991. He has conducted the defence of clinical negligence, employer and public liability claims. He represents doctors and dentists for MDU Legal Services, opticians and audiologists for Specsavers and clinicians at inquests and professional disciplinary bodies. He also supports the Care Homes Team on regulatory matters.

Allen MyersSenior Legal Executive
Allen has over 20 years experience in personal injury work. He manages the defence of claims under the NHSLA RPS scheme and also supports NHS claims managers with claims below the NHSLA excess and health and safety at work issues.

Michelle WoollsSolicitor
Michelle’s first training seat was within the healthcare team. She returned there to complete the final stages of her training contract and qualified in September 2009. Michelle has a particular interest in medical defence work and inquests and also assists the team with training on health law and risk management.

Kelly RatcliffeSolicitor
Kelly joined Brachers in January 2010 as a solicitor having practised for two years in central London specialising in defendant clinicial negligence work, acting for clinicians practising in both the NHS and private sector.
Kelly currently acts on behalf of medical insurers in relation to negligence claims brought against individual medical practitioners, including GPs, private surgeons and dentists and advises NHS Trusts as required and has developed extensive experience of cases involving hospital associated infection.

Angela RuminskiTrainee
Current Seat - Medical & Personal Injury
Angela read Law at Sheffield Hallam University and completed her LPC at the College of Law in Store Street, London. Following the academic stage of training Angela spent several months volunteering at the Citizens Advice Bureau in Medway and working as an international paralegal in Mayfair, London. She joined Brachers in May 2008 as an Assistant Conveyancing Executive in our expanding Property department and was keen to secure a training contract with us. Angela started her training contract with Brachers in March 2009 and is currently the trainee in Medical & Personal Injury.
