From 1 February 2012, Employment Tribunal compensation limits will increase under the Employment Rights (Increase of Limits) Order 2011.
The maximum compensatory award for unfair dismissal will rise from the current £68,400 to £72,300 and the maximum amount of a weeks’ pay (used, amongst other things, to calculate statutory redundancy pay) will rise by £30 to £430.
The minimum basic award for certain unfair dismissals (dismissals for reasons of: trade union membership or activities; health and safety duties, pension scheme trustee duties; acting as an employee representative) will also increase from the current £5,000 to £5,30.
The new figures will apply to dismissals where the effective date of termination falls on or after 1 February 2012.
