Lyn is a Senior Litigation Executive in the Personal Injury team. Lyn has worked within the legal profession since 1993 and has over 16 years’ experience of handling personal injury claims, during which time she has gained a wealth of knowledge.

Lyn joined the Medical & Personal Injury team at Brachers in 2003. She previously worked in the personal injury team at another Kent law firm, and has also worked in the matrimonial and private client teams.

Lyn deals with a wide variety of personal injury claims from start to finish including accidents at work, slips/trips, road traffic accidents, public liability claims and industrial injuries. She deals with portal claims under the Pre-Action Protocol for Low Value Personal Injury Claims and claims within the Pre-Action Protocol for Personal Injury.

Prior to her career in law, Lyn worked as a secretary to a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, Kent, giving her a valuable insight into orthopaedic injuries, treatment and surgery. This sparked her interest in medicine which has continued throughout her personal injury work and has provided her with a good understanding and knowledge of medical terminology for the injuries, treatment and procedures often involved within a personal injury claim.

The right to anonymity - personal injury claims for children and protected adults

In a personal injury claim by a child or protected adult, i.e. a person who lacks capacity to conduct proceedings, no settlement will be valid without the approval of the Court (CPR 21.10). A litigation friend will be required to conduct the personal injury claim by a child or protected adult. The Court will be asked to approve any settlement reached at an approval hearing. Read more

Changes to Part 36 offers

Changes to Part 36 offers were made under the Civil Procedure (Amendment No 8) Rules 2015, applying to all Part 36 offers made on or after 6 April 2015. A Part 36 offer is an offer made by a claimant or defendant to encourage settlement of the claim before trial. Read more
