    Robert Thompson (FCICM) is a Partner in the Collections and Recoveries team and oversees the performance of the team providing advice and guidance internally within the team, as well as directly to clients. In 2024, Rob was awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the Chartered Institute of Credit Management demonstrating his outstanding commitment to the credit management and collections profession. Robert has since been interviewed by Sean Feast FCICM in the January 2024 edition of the Credit Management Magazine, the CICM magazine for consumer and commercial credit professionals.

    He has more than 30 years’ experience and has worked his way up since joining Brachers in 1991. He joined the management team in 2007 and became a Partner in 2015.

    Rob was included in the Credit 500 index for 2021/22 as one of the 500 most influential people within the UK credit industry.

    He was named as a ‘Leading Individual’ in the Legal 500 2024 directory. His team won a Credit Excellence Award 2020 for its debt recovery work.

    In 2020 he was elected as the chair of the Civil Court Users Association (CCUA), after carrying out the role of Vice Chair over the previous five years. As part of his duties, he meets with officials from HM Ministry of Justice and HM Courts and Tribunals Service, representing the interests of court users.

    Rob is also Chair of the Creditor Recoveries Liaison Committee which brings together all of the main representative bodies within the creditor sector and meets whenever there are major industry developments to discuss.

    • Consumer collections, including hire purchase, rental agreements and outstanding fees to schools and colleges
    • Consumer Credit Act 1974
    • Call and collect / litigation
    • Financial services collections.

    Rob is based in our Maidstone office.
