The Construction Team advises on all aspects of construction law, both non-contentious and contentious, at every stage of projects. In addition to Maidstone, we have a fully operational office in London which is needed to support existing workloads and underpin planned future expansion.
All members of the team have significant domestic and international experience gained in large City practices. We are very flexible on fee arrangements which we structure depending on client requirements as a realistic cost-effective alternative to the larger City practices and at the same time provide a first-class timely service.

Non-Contentious Construction
We have considerable experience both domestically and internationally and can structure fee arrangements to suit a particular client’s requirements. We are a realistic alternative to larger City firms providing clear, practical, value-for-money advice with no compromise on the quality of delivery of the service.
Our expertise includes:
- Advice on the various procurement options and routes.
- Guidance on and drafting the documentation which is expected depending on the nature of the development and funding arrangements.
- Drafting and negotiating all forms of construction and engineering contracts and appointments (both industry standard and bespoke forms) together with related property and security documentation.
- Structuring Framework Agreements for the provision of professional services and the carrying out of construction works.
- Extensive awareness of the requirements of the full range of parties involved in the construction process (including banks, developers, contractors, professionals and insurers).
Contentious Construction
The Contentious Construction Team is headed by Michael Janney who operates from both the London and Maidstone offices.
We have considerable experience both domestically and internationally and can structure fee arrangements to suit a particular client’s requirements. We are a realistic alternative to larger City firms providing clear, practical, value-for-money advice with no compromise on the quality of delivery of the service.
Our expertise includes:
- Advice at all stages of a project in order to avoid disputes arising.
- Full assistance with the preparation of all types of claim.
- Dealing with all forms of negotiation, including mediation.
- A wealth of experience of construction disputes including adjudication, arbitration, court proceedings and expert determination.
- Extensive awareness of the commercial requirements of the full range of parties involved in the construction process (including employers, property companies and developers together with main contractors, specialist sub-contractors, NHS Trusts, education establishments and various care home companies).
