Waste Management and Landfill Sites
We have acted for waste management companies in a variety of ways. This has been both in connection with the lodging of planning applications for waste management facilities and also lodging applications for environmental permits (previously waste management licences). We have also acted in defending prosecutions brought by the Environment Agency against waste management companies both in the Magistrates Court and in the Crown Court.
In respect of land fill sites, whilst there is momentum to reduce waste (i.e. less packaging), to reuse or recycle waste, there is a vast majority of waste which still ends up at landfill. Old quarry sites particularly are valuable to provide landfill capacity. We have acted for various waste management companies in connection with landfill proposals and operations.
