Brachers advises MWA Financial on second acquisition in six months

Brachers has advised MWA Financial on their acquisition of CHC Wealth Management from chartered accountancy firm Clemence Hoar Cummings.

This is the second acquisition the firm have supported MWA Financial with in the past six months – having previously advised on their acquisition of Prosperity Financial Advisors and Stockbrokers in June 2021.

CHC Wealth Management will retain its name, location and all staff members, while its director, Neil Manning, will become a principal wealth adviser at the firm. Former parent Clemence Hoar Cummings will become a strategic partner to MWA.

London based MWA are a leading IFA group specialising in acquisition and organic business development. The company launched in 2016 and uses a holistic advice model, focusing on implementing bespoke succession plans and offering partnerships for growth.

This latest acquisition is part of MWA’s growth plans to become a leading national IFA firm. The CHC Wealth Management deal takes its assets under influence to £380m, with its adviser count now increased to 19.

Corporate Partner Matthew Simmonds led the deal, supported by Corporate Senior Associate Tim Turner and Corporate Solicitor Sunil Landa.

The deal is the latest in a very successful year for Brachers’ Corporate and Commercial team. Despite the challenging climate, the team have successfully completed over 25 deals in the last 12 months.

Brachers has also recently secured a Corporate and Commercial Band 1 ranking in The Legal 500 2022, with a client quoted in the directory commenting that the team provide: “great local customer service but with London knowledge and expertise.”
