• South east based firm Brachers has advised Smart Office Group on two acquisitions within a month, as the company purchases Document Office Technology Services Ltd and Chariot Office Automation.

Smart Office Group is a leading independent print management providers, offering print solutions in Kent, London and the south east. Document Office Technology Services Ltd (DOTS), based in Essex and Suffolk and Chariot Office Automation (Chariot), based in Hertfordshire, both have a longstanding and loyal customer base which they bring with them to the Smart Office Group.

The acquisitions form part of Smart Office Group’s ambitious growth plan around the UK. The company has already seen impressive growth, having tripled in size since 2018 through organic growth and acquisitions.

The team at Brachers was led by Tim Turner, Corporate Senior Associate, with support from Partner Matthew Simmonds and solicitor Kieron Cummins.

Tim said: “We were really pleased to work with Gary and Melissa on these acquisitions and to be part of their growth story. These acquisitions strengthen Smart Office’s position as one of the leading providers of managed print services in the south east and we are excited to be part of its continued success.”

Gary Smart, founder and CEO of Smart Office Group, said: “These two acquisitions are an important step in our vision for the future direction of Smart Office Group and were really pleased to have the support of the Brachers to help make this happen. The team know our industry and gave us invaluable advice at every stage of the process. They were always on hand to talk when we needed them, which is a real reassurance when going through such a strategically important process such as this. Thank you to Tim, Matt and the team.”

The Corporate team has advised on multiple successful deals since the beginning of 2021. This success has been recognised by the prestigious South East Dealmakers Awards 2021, where they have been shortlisted in four categories.
