• Brachers’ Paralegal Michael Cressey has been shortlisted for the National Paralegal Awards for the second year in a row.

The National Paralegal Awards are organised by the overarching voluntary regulator for paralegals, the Professional Paralegal Register, and aims to champion and reward outstanding work being done by paralegals in the UK.

Michael, who has worked in the legal profession for over 10 years, has been shortlisted in two categories: ‘Paralegal of the Year – South’ and ‘Best Will Writing Paralegal.’

Michael is a paralegal in the firm’s Elderly and Vulnerable team. His expertise is Court of Protection applications, Powers of Attorney and Wills. He also has experience in managing the administration of personal affairs under the Court of Protection and the creation of personal injury trusts.

Head of Brachers’ Elderly and Vulnerable team, Mary Rimmer, said: “I am so pleased that Michael has been recognised in these awards. He shows dedication to both his clients and the firm and consistently receives exceptional feedback from clients who comment on his friendly yet professional manner and the efficiency of his work for them. It is my pleasure to work with Michael and I appreciate his support in developing our team and client base, and looking after our existing loyal clients.”

Michael said: “I am continually proactive in developing my skill set through closely working with, and learning from, the firm’s partners and sector specialists. I have worked hard to be in the position to deliver advice on highly complex legal matters; something I never thought I could achieve.

“I am passionate about providing quality legal advice to both clients and the wider community. With this in mind, I was instrumental in developing and hosting a social media ‘Fact Friday’ video series which launched in 2020. In this, I interview sector specialists across the firm, with the aim of providing valuable legal advice on the latest legal updates and changes in their areas. This year, I also spearheaded a series of three pro bono ‘legal Q&As’ for clients and members of the public in my community.

“This nomination is proof that hard work does pay off and I am delighted to be shortlisted in not just one but two categories at these prestigious awards.”

This shortlisting is the latest in a series of high-profile awards successes in recent months. There has been recognition for a number of Brachers teams and individuals, including in the UK Probate Research Awards 2021, South East Dealmakers Awards 2021Managing Partners’ Forum Awards 2021, Law Society Awards 2021, and STEP Private Client Awards 2021.

The winners of the National Paralegal Awards 2021 will be announced at a virtual awards ceremony on Thursday 23 September 2021.
