In the second instalment of our ‘menopause matters’ series, we are delighted to welcome special guest speaker Kirstin Furber, People Director at Channel 4.
Kirstin joined Channel 4 in 2020. Prior to this Kirstin held senior roles at several prominent media companies including People Director for BBC Worldwide, Twentieth Century Fox, Discovery and more recently Kantar.
Kirstin is passionate about organisations creating an environment people can do their best work and is on a mission to make the world a better place to work, see Kirstinfurber.com for more information.
In 2019, Channel 4 was one of the first UK media companies to launch a dedicated menopause policy. The policy supports employees experiencing menopausal symptoms whilst providing guidance to colleagues and line managers about how they can be supportive to those transitioning through it.
Channel 4’s HR team now has a dedicated Menopause Champion and the broadcaster’s mental health employee network 4Mind, as well as in-house gender equality staff network 4Women, who are responsible for the new policy, offer a wealth of support.

In this hour-long webinar Kirstin provides a short summary of the background to implementing the menopause policy at Channel 4, her advice on how to position internal communications around this, her key learnings on implementation, how it ties in with the employee life cycle and with benefits offered, and how to make menopause support and discussion part of company culture.
For the remainder of the session, host Louise Brenlund chairs live Q&As with Kirstin.
