Six questions in 60 seconds… Emma Hegarty

This month we speak to Emma Hegarty, an Associate in our Private Client team.

Emma specialises in estate administration and advises executors and administrators in complex estates including farming and business assets and post-death planning, such as Deeds of Variation.

She also regularly advises clients on Wills, including appropriate ways for clients to safeguard their assets for future generations, as well as tax planning opportunities.

What is the best piece of advice anyone has given you in your career?

Only ask one person for advice, not more as you will end up with five different explanations!

What are you currently working on?

Lots of estate files which I think is a consequence of the pandemic. Unfortunately some very sad situations.

Can you remember the first thing you bought with your own money?

When I was 13, I started working in a hairdressers for £2 an hour. I cannot remember what I bought with it but it definitely would have been something related to Take That!

What is the one thing you could not live without?

My mum.

Which three traits define you?

Talking too quickly, OCD and overthinking.

Can you tell us your favourite thing about working at Brachers?

The team that I work with and the support I receive.
