• The Charity Governance Code is a set of core principles which, if followed, underpin charities’ effectiveness and their future resilience. Kent area experts in the legal, accounting, financial and charity governance fields will be on hand at the forum to offer their insights and advice.

Co-hosts, law firm Brachers, accountants MHA MacIntyre Hudson and CAF Bank, launched this new forum in February. It aims to dissect the code for trustees of smaller charities, exploring how this framework can inspire practical solutions to the challenges that charities face.

The next meeting of the forum, at Bridgewood Manor Hotel on 12 June, examines good practice around managing risk and financial sustainability, illustrated with recent examples.
The Charity Governance Code is intended for use by all charities registered in England and Wales as a tool to support continuous improvement and develop the highest standards of governance.

Chair of the forum, Alyson Howard,  Not for Profit Partner at MHA MacIntyre Hudson said “The charity sector is subject to ever greater scrutiny following financial and safeguarding failures in the headlines recently and the new code is an accessible and helpful process charities can follow to ensure their organisations are in the best possible shape.”
Christopher Eriksson-Lee, Partner at Brachers, said: “This forum is a must for charities and not-for-profit organisations who want to know how best they can implement the code to help them achieve their organisational goals through good governance. We’re delighted to have experts from various sectors attending to deliver advice on the broad range of issues facing organisations in the charitable sector.”

Dina Henry, Chief Operating Officer at CAF Bank, said: “As we approach Small Charity Week (June 17-22), this forum offers a timely opportunity for charity chairs and trustees to meet their peers and share experiences on how to put good governance into practice”.
The Kent Good Governance Charity Forum takes place on Wednesday 12 June, 8.00 – 10.30am, at the Bridgewood Manor Hotel, in Walderslade, near Chatham. Find out more and register your place at www.kggcf.eventbrite.co.uk
