• Did you register a Lasting or Enduring Power of Attorney prior to March 2017?

The Ministry of Justice has launched a scheme which entitles certain people to a refund on the court registration fee. Historically the court registration fees have been set in the hundreds of pounds but with processing costs lowered in recent years the fees were reduced to £82 in April 2017.

After this publication from the Ministry of Justice, those who paid the increased fee prior to the reduction, can now obtain a refund so all donors are on an even playing field. A positive move for consumers.

Who does this refund scheme apply to?

This applies to powers of attorney that were registered in England or Wales between 1 April 2013 and 31 March 2017.

    How much can I claim?

You can claim for both types of Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) and the amount that can be claimed will depend on when the application was made. The amount that is refundable works on a sliding scale.
