Whilst in recent news headlines, arguments of “special contributions” have resurfaced, this case is good news for stay at home mothers. The courts have once again endorsed in this case how the wife, as a stay at home mother bringing up the couple’s two children, is entitled to half of the families £1 billion fortune given her equal contributions to the family. Whilst the starting point in considering a division of the marital pot on a 50/50 division of assets is not new news, a decision such as this reconfirms that contributions in the home and in bringing up children is as valid as going to the office.
