Brachers advises on the £45 million redevelopment of Benenden Hospital

Brachers is delighted to announce that it has been appointed to advise Benenden Health on the £45 million redevelopment of its prestigious hospital at Benenden.

First featured in Kent Business, June 2014

The redevelopment will mean that in-patients and day surgery patients will benefit from individual bedrooms. Additional modifications include the creation of a new main entrance with an adjacent car park and drop off area.

The hospital will also be able to provide updated facilities for out-patient clinics, diagnostic investigations and surgical procedures by incorporating facilities such asMRI scanning and diagnostic imaging all under one roof, an expansion of the physiotherapy area, modern operating theatres and a new endoscopy unit.

Claire Barwick, an Associate in the Construction team at Brachers who has been advising benenden health says: “As a firm we are extremely proud to be associated with the ongoing development of this hospital, which has been caring for patients in the region for well over a century.”

“Healthcare provision is developing very rapidly, and benenden health has worked hard to ensure the hospital offers facilities that are at the cutting edge of medical technology. But as hospitals and their equipment become more complicated, so do the legal issues that arise, and we are happy to help benenden health navigate some of the more complex issues so the hospital can continue its vital work.”

Graham Goddard the Project Director at Benenden Hospital says

“This is a very significant project for us and it was very important for us to be working with a firm that has such an established practice in the region. It has also been useful to have the experience of the senior team at Brachers, many of whom have trained and practiced at large City firms.

“We were very pleased to have Claire and the team on board, as this is a huge investment for benenden health. We were grateful for their help in guiding us through some of the more complicated contractual areas.”
