• John Sheath received the accolade at the Society’s annual dinner, acknowledging his dedication to improving NHS services through his legal expertise and his progressive approach to collaboration between legal and healthcare services.

John has had a long and distinguished career at Brachers, spearheading the inception of the firm’s Healthcare team in 1982. Under his leadership, the team has gone on to be ranked in Tier 1 by leading legal directory, the Legal 500, and the depth of their healthcare expertise was recognised earlier this year when Brachers was appointed as the only South East‐based firm to deliver legal services to the NHS and wider public sector organisations.

As an individual, John has been involved in several legal landmarks that have significantly contributed to legal practice as well as delivering substantial pro-bono and value-added services over the years, including training and contributions to NHS patient safety groups, risk management and ethics committees. The monetary value of this contribution is estimated to run to tens of thousands of pounds annually.

    John Sheath said:

“It has been a privilege to practice law in Kent for nearly four decades for such a fantastic firm and an honour to win this award. I have always been proud to be able to give something back to the NHS, whose staff work so hard in challenging times, by sharing the know-how I have gained through my years of representing healthcare organisations to help reduce risk and benefit patient care.”

Joanna Worby, Managing Partner at Brachers, said:

“We are so delighted that John has been recognised with the ‘Outstanding Contribution’ award. His dedication to the firm and to his clients and the impact he has had throughout his career is truly impressive. On behalf on everyone at the firm I would like to congratulate him on this well-deserved accolade.”
