• Brachers partner Alexandra Gordon has been appointed Vice President of Kent Law Society (KLS), as the Society celebrates both its 201st year and the 100th year of women in law.

Alexandra is a highly regarded private client partner at Brachers, advising clients in respect of tax and estate planning, the preparation of Wills, trust creation, estate administration and lasting powers of attorney. As well as being a solicitor, Alexandra is also a Chartered Tax Adviser.

Her appointment as Vice President cements a strong female representation in Kent Law Society’s leadership team, alongside President Emma Palmer, Honorary Treasurer Janet Goode and Honorary Secretary Deborah Hatton. Chief Operating Officer Jon Pitt completes the team.

The KLS exists to promote the interests of the legal profession in Kent and to be the voice of the profession locally. It provides its members with training, marketing, recruitment, guidance, networking and social interaction. It represents the complete spectrum of the profession in Kent, from large, medium or small firms to sole practitioners, interacting with politicians, policymakers, the media and potential new entrants to the profession.

Commenting on her appointment, Alexandra Gordon said: “I am delighted to become Vice President of the Kent Law Society. It plays a key role in supporting and promoting the profession in Kent. I have played an active role in the Society for a number of years and to be appointed to this position is a great honour. I am really looking forward to taking up the reins alongside my work at Brachers and helping drive the Society’s activities forward.”

Joanna Worby, Managing Partner of Brachers, said: “My warm congratulations to Alexandra on her much-deserved appointment. It seems very fitting that she should be appointed Vice President as the Society celebrates 100 years of women in law. KLS – like Brachers – is helping to send a strong message that law is a profession in which women can truly succeed!”

Alexandra’s appointment was followed by Brachers also celebrating partner and Head of Healthcare John Sheath winning the Outstanding Contribution award at the recent Kent Law Society awards. John received the accolade in recognition of his commitment to enhancing NHS services over the course of his long career.

Joanna Worby said: “It was fantastic to see John given this recognition. His dedication to the firm and to his clients and the impact he has had throughout his career is truly impressive.”
