• Kent security provider, Ward Security launched a personal safety initiative with Brachers on Wednesday 29 October, to remind employees of the importance of maintaining personal safety as they travel to and from work during darker nights.

Following the clocks going back and the end of Daylight Savings Time, Ward Security handed out free torches to employees at the Bracher’s Medway House and Somerfield House Offices, as well as personal safety tip sheets to provide general reassurance to those making their way to and from the office as the days draw in. Police Community Support Officer Richard Chainey also attended the giveaway to demonstrate Kent Police’s support for the initiative.

Joanna Worby, Managing Partner at Brachers added:
“We are always concerned to ensure the safety of our staff and we are delighted to be working with Ward Security to help raise awareness of personal safety.”

Denise Hooton, Associate Director of Marketing at Ward Security, commented:

“It’s important for us as security specialists to demonstrate our commitment to safe and secure environments by helping other Kent businesses and their employees.
“Anxieties, especially about personal security, can be intensified during the lengthening nights of autumn and winter. We hope the free torches and our advice sheets will go some way to reassuring employees as they travel to work.”

Richard Chainey of Kent Police commented:

“Walking around in the darker months can be a daunting and unnerving experience, causing some people to feel a heightened sense of vulnerability. It is great to see a company like Ward Security taking an interest and proactively helping to promote awareness by providing free torches and providing simple, practical steps that people can take to help reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime.”

The torch give-away follows on from a number of initiatives created by Ward Security to ramp up security at various office locations near their Bracknell and Kent bases across England. Last year, the firm launched a similar torch give-away based near its Bracknell office at Arlington Square Business Park, with participating tenants sharing information about safety and security.
