The risk of investing in farmland
Simon Palmer joined Brachers in 1991 and became a partner in 1994, heading the Private Client Department until 2015. He became a consultant in 2016. He specialises in providing strategic advice to high net worth individuals, farmers and business owners.
Simon has developed a deep interest in advising farmers stemming from a strong interest in preserving and highlighting the importance of the rural community.
Simon has been a trustee of more than one hundred trusts and acts as adviser to families and their private trusts. He also acts as attorney, executor and court appointed deputy for many clients. He is a trustee of numerous private charities and from 1994 until his retirement was legal adviser to the Corps of Royal Engineers.
Simon’s approach is to look at the long term interests of his clients and provide arrangements that are not purely tax driven, but rather centred on the people themselves.
Away from the office Simon is Vice Commodore of the Association of Dunkirk Little Ships.
