Sophie Spellman

Profile:

Sophie is an Associate in our Commercial Property team. 

She qualified as a solicitor in 2015, at a regional law firm, specialising in residential and commercial property matters. After four years, she joined another Kent-based firm to focus her specialism on commercial property, working in their asset management team. Subsequently, in 2022, Sophie joined the Commercial Property team at Brachers. 

Sophie specialises in: 

• Commercial freehold sales and purchases including transactions subject to occupational tenants 
• Acting for retail and commercial banks in relation to high value secured lending transactions 
• Acting on behalf of both landlords and tenants in leases of various types of premises, including industrial units, retail units and office space 
• Sales of property to pension funds and acting for pension trustees 

Sophie also has experience in drafting a precedent form of underlease for a commercial office building to be rolled out for individual units, dealing with letting those units, and agreeing a deed of variation in relation to the superior lease. This has led to the client being able to let the office space more easily and cost effectively.
