At Brachers we are proud to regularly advise clients whose business or personal ventures involve an international dimension.
Why choose Brachers?
Lawyers from across our multi-service practice areas, including corporate and commercial law, litigation, employment, commercial and residential property, private client, private wealth protection and family law, can support you through the complexities that come from adding an international dimension to your legal need. Whether you are considering an overseas investment, looking to structure inheritance planning involving overseas assets, or taking enforcement action against persons or entities resident in a foreign jurisdiction or any other cross-border adventure, we will have the experience and contacts necessary to support you.
Successful cross-border matters require an advisor who is able to coordinate, understand and deliver clear advice involving the UK and other relevant overseas jurisdiction(s) to ensure a comprehensive solution is achieved for the client. As such, in addition to providing advice on the English law aspects of matters, we regularly act as the coordinating counsel, assisting our clients to procure and then utilise the advice provided by overseas lawyers to ensure a successful result.
Marcalliance: the international alliance of lawyers
As a member of the Marcalliance network of lawyers, we are able to provide you with seamless access to a network of lawyers from across the globe to provide plain English and practical advice on foreign law issues. This international alliance of 30 law firms and more than 1850 lawyers that work together, as specialists in each of their own jurisdictions to provide our international clients with cost-effective, high-standard professional legal and tax services.
Present in 29 countries along Europe, North, Central and South America, East Asia and Oceania, member law firms share the same core values and provide the same high standards of service and quality. Marcalliance lawyers have strong expertise and reputation in handling legal issues in their local environment, in working with foreign clients, international groups and experts in other jurisdictions.
Since Brachers joined Marcalliance in 2019, we have harnessed our connections within the network to deliver many successful client projects, including:
- The purchase of a European manufacturing group with locations throughout Europe, including the UK.

If you are a UK resident who owns, or is considering owning, property outside of the UK, we would advise talking to our private client team about your Will and consider having a Will both in the UK and abroad. It is important to understand where you stand and the laws that also govern the country you have property in.
If you are considering using your property abroad as a rental investment then it is worth talking to our team about tax planning and understanding your position with regards to tax, including inheritance tax, capital gains and income tax.
If you are not a UK resident and you have assets in the UK, we would suggest you get advice from our team on UK tax implications and other legal issues such as what would happen in the event of your death.
