Mesothelioma deaths from asbestos in Kent are still rising according to the latest ONS figures. Even though use of asbestos was stopped during the 1980s, tragically its after-effects are still very much with us.
In 2014 108 people in Kent and Medway died from mesothelioma, an increase of 19% on 2013. The areas with the highest number of mesothelioma deaths in the county were:
Medway (17) (the sixth highest in the country)
Swale (13)
Thanet (12)
Maidstone (10)
This increase is in line with our own experience as asbestos claims specialists, as we continue to receive an increasing number of enquiries from victims of mesothelioma and other asbestos diseases.
Please click here to read Kent Online’s coverage of the announcement.
We are holding our fourth free Asbestos Clinic at our Medway House Office, 81 London Road, Maidstone, ME16 0DU from Monday 12 October to Friday 15 October from 10.00am – 4.00pm.
Asbestos disease victims and their families will have a chance to meet members of our specialist Medway asbestos claims team to see if we can assist them with obtaining compensation. They can also pick up information about other support services and welfare benefits advice.
