Five Acre Wood school has just received a second Outstanding award from Ofsted and is an all age (2‐19) day District Special School for children and young people with profound, severe and complex learning difficulties, including Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
Money has been raised through a wide range of activities as staff at Brachers have truly embraced the fantastic cause. Sponsored walks, quiz evenings, bring & buy sales, sweepstakes, cake bakes and more have all featured in the firm’s fundraising efforts over the course of a two-year relationship.
The funds raised will go towards the school’s plans for a new hydrotherapy pool which will have significant therapeutic benefits for the children and will cost a total of around £850,000 to build.
Joanna Worby, Managing Partner at Brachers, said: “We are proud and delighted to have reached the £10,000 milestone in our fundraising for Five Acre Wood school over the last two years. It is a wonderful school that makes a huge difference to many children’s lives. I have been thrilled with the way that staff have risen to the challenge and shown great energy, enthusiasm and initiative in raising funds. We will keep close ties to the school in the future and hope that they will successfully build the hydrotherapy pool that will be a fantastic new facility for the children.”
Alex Meaders, Fundraising Manager at Five Acre Wood school, commented: “We are extremely grateful to everyone at Brachers for all their efforts in raising this brilliant sum. It has been a pleasure working with the firm over the last two years. The money they have raised is a huge help in moving us nearer to our goal of building the hydrotherapy pool.”
As the two-year charity of choice partnership with Five Acre Wood draws to a close, staff at Brachers have selected a new charity to support over the coming two years – Spadework, a charity based in West Malling in Kent that provides care, support and meaningful opportunities for over 110 adults with learning and other disabilities. The adults gain work experience and skills by helping run the charity’s farm shop, garden centre, allotment, café and log delivery service.
Everyone at Brachers is hugely looking forward to working with Spadework over the next two years and raising as much money as possible.
