Divorce petition changes

Although lengthier, the new petition is intended to simplify the preparation of the petition by being clearer and more user-friendly. The new increase in the guidance provided within the form will be of benefit to many clients and litigants in person alike.
The new petition now includes a requirement to sign a statement of truth, something which was not previously a requirement. However, despite the significant stylistic changes, there are many similarities with the old petition. Any changes which make the divorce process more user friendly is to be welcomed, particularly where this helps to simplify what can often appear to be a daunting and complex process for clients and family members.
