Prime Minister urges businesses to ‘adapt and change’ for a stronger future at annual CBI conference
Brachers has been hearing about how businesses can support sustained growth at the annual CBI conference today.
The conference, focused on innovation, growth and prosperity, brings together some of the most influential names in business and politics, with Prime Minister Theresa May giving the keynote address this morning.
Mrs May urged businesses to “be prepared to adapt and change” in order to build a stronger future post-Brexit, with a focus on new ways of thinking to help drive investment into Britain for the long term.
With an emphasis on research, training and development, creating conditions for growth and the introduction by the Government of a pro-innovation tax system, the Prime Minister expressed her confidence in the country’s ability to “turn start-ups to scale-ups”, with a promise to ensure their backing in the long term.
Alongside this, Mrs May highlighted that embracing change was almost a necessity given that 65% of children will end up working in a job which has yet to be developed. Going forward, an increased use of technology and robotics in industry and services will lead to changes not only in the way we work but in the work itself.
Innovation and investment is not just a priority for those running the country, but for all businesses currently operating within the UK.Brachers are currently running a series of free seminars focused on how to future-proof your business, with the next event on 9 February 2017, exploring ‘Funding for growth.’
This event will explore the investment and funding opportunities currently available and review the choices and challenges faced by businesses when incorporating investment and funding into their long-term strategies.
