• As one of Kent’s leading family law teams, we are experienced in providing expert legal advice during stressful life events such as the breakdown of a marriage.

No two divorce cases are alike. We listen to you and develop the best approach for your particular circumstances, to achieve the best outcome for your family.

We understand the impact that divorce can have and we use a sensitive and practical approach to help you move forward.

Where possible, we help our clients to resolve their disputes by agreement, without going to court. Members of our team are experienced in using alternative dispute resolution methods such as mediation and collaborative law.

If you have children, our experts can advise you on arrangements for children following a separation or divorce.

If you are considering ending a civil partnership, find out more about our specialist advice for couples in civil partnerships.

Are you considering separation or divorce and need advice?

You do not need wait until you start divorce proceedings to get legal advice. Some clients simply want to understand the effects of separation and the available options, such as a separation agreement.

Our team of solicitors offer practical and supportive advice to help you decide which route is most suitable for you and your family.

If you decide to divorce, our divorce solicitors will guide you through the steps involved.

We will look after your interests and ensure that all issues have been covered, including your rights concerning any children and property.

You will be kept fully informed throughout the proceedings, so that you know where you stand.

Has your spouse issued a divorce petition?

If your spouse has told you they want to separate or has issued a divorce petition to the court, we can advise you on how best to respond and the options available to you.

We understand that this can be a worrying and unsettling time. Our lawyers will provide the legal expertise you need to help you feel in control of your future.

    Financial settlements and consent orders

One of the most important aspects of your divorce is the division of assets on divorce and separation. Our experienced team will support you in obtaining a consent order dealing with the financial side of your divorce.

We will advise you of your rights and your likely financial settlement so that you can negotiate effectively with your spouse to achieve a fair settlement.

We can provide you with practical tailored advice on areas such as:

If you are unable to reach agreement on how your finances should be split, it might be necessary to make an application to the court. Our solicitors will guide you through the process and, if necessary, advise you on applications to the court for financial remedy (previously known as ancillary relief).

We also have experience in cases with an international element. If you have concerns that your spouse is removing assets from the country or hiding assets offshore then we can advise you about applying to the court for a freezing injunction.

    High value divorce

Our solicitors have particular expertise in private wealth and acting for high net worth clients with complex financial structures and high value assets.

We are also experienced in dealing with the problems that may arise where businesses, including family businesses, and family estates or trusts are involved.

We can guide you through the divorce process with as much support as possible and provide tailored advice on dividing your assets with your spouse.
